Support Audubon CT The Environmental Leadership
Dinner
Join Us on April 29, 2010 for Audubon
Connecticut’s Environmental Leadership Dinner
The dinner will be held at the Belle Haven Club in Greenwich, to raise funds for Audubon’s
Long Island Sound Campaign, one of Audubon’s top five national priorities. Our campaign supports conservation, policy, and education, specifically:
Protection of open space and habitat;
Reducing pollution in and around the
Sound;
Teaching young and old how to keep the Sound and its surrounding shoreline clean and safe for all.
We hope you will join us and support this great event and historic effort. Together we can restore
this national treasure, the Sound, and make a better world for generations to come.

ARTWORK Two Amsterdam Prints of Audubon's Artwork from Arader Galleries:
John James Audubon was born in Les Cayes, Haiti on April 26, 1785. From 1788 to 1803 he lived in France until he was sent to the United States to manage his father’s Pennsylvania estate. Audubon's unshakable belief in his own abilities resulted in the publication of his masterpiece "The Birds of America" in 1827-1838. This is the single greatest ornithological work ever produced and recorded, in natural size, every native American bird then known. The 435 double-elephant folio sized plates, printed by the Havells of London, depict some 1,065 different species, the majority drawn from specimens that Audubon himself had captured.
In October 1971, employing the most faithful printing method available, the best materials, and the ablest craftsmen of their age, the Amsterdam firm of Theatrum Orbis Terrarum Ltd.partnered with the Johnson Reprint Corporation of New York to produce the finest limited edition facsimile of the greatest bird book ever printed: the Havell edition of John James Audubon's well-loved "Birds of America." The Amsterdam Edition is the first complete series of Audubon/Havell originals produced since Audubon's day. The highly desirable and collectible Audubon images all carry the "G. Schut & Zonen Audubon" watermark along the long edge, and are approximately 39 1/2" x 26 1/2" in size. Given all this careful preparation, it is not surprising that the prints have the look and feel of the original Havell edition.
Only 250 copies of the Amsterdam prints were ever published and this is a rare chance to own a print of either the Wild Turkey (male) or the Scarlet Ibis (male & female).
